Since 1987, Mary Filice of Filice Design Studio, Inc. has been involved with distinct and attractive interior design projects from the Monterey Peninsula to North of San Francisco.
Discovering her passion for beautiful interiors started as a child. With her mother and their love for antiques, side by side they would refinish many vintage pieces, layer by layer, unveiling their original beauty. Her hands-on experiences can be attributed to a very talented team of family and friends. She acquired carpentry skills from her father and was always standing nearby ready to hand him the necessary tool. Her grandmothers shared their skill of hand embroidery, needle-point and many patient hours guiding fabric under the foot of a sewing machine. Having the desire to hang wallpaper in her first home, she was taught the installation process from a dear friend. Mary was constantly called upon to help and offer advice to many family members and friends who were decorating their own homes.
Her "general contractor" husband always included her in the architectural plans from design to specifying finishes and materials. When their daughter started kindergarten, with the support and encouragement of her husband, she went back to school and majored in Interior Design. She considered this new opportunity as a "job with homework". After graduating, realizing her passion would become a dream job, she began her interior design practice.
Mary is a Professional Member of the Interior Design Society (IDS) and Associate Member of Window Fashions Certified Professional (WFCP).
